Biography

"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years." -- Abraham Lincoln

Born and raised in Woodbridge, New Jersey, I graduated Woodbridge High School in 1996 and then moved to York, Pennsylvania to attend York College of Pennsylvania and get my degree in Government/Public Administration.  At YCP, I was active in the Spartan Newspaper (Organizations Editor), the History and Political Science Student Organization (HISPO), the Horizon Yearbook (Organizations Editor), and The Players of YCP.  Undergraduate honors include induction into the Alpha Chi National Honor Society, Pi Sigma Alpha (National Political Science Honor Society) and the York College Senior Honor Society.  I received my B.A. summa cum laude from YCP in May 2000.

After graduation, I returned home to New Jersey intent on pursuing a career in law, either in law school or legal administration.  After nine years of employment at two Newark, New Jersey law firms, I realized that law was not my calling.  With encouragement from my sister, I applied to Pratt Institute and their School of Information and Library Science, and matriculated there in Fall 2007.  I served on the executive board of the SILS student chapter of the American Library Association, held two graduate assistantships, and had a temporary (five month) fieldwork position in my law firm's law library. Outside of Pratt-SILS, I continued volunteer work and community service with the Museum of Modern Art and the York College of Pennsylvania New York City Metro Area Alumni Chapter.

I received my MSLIS, with Distinction, from Pratt on May 17, 2010,  and presently looking for professional opportunities (speaking/writing) in all parts of the United States and Canada that fit my research interests. I'm also considering a second post-undergraduate degree - a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science, a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy (to fulfill a desire to teach), or a MPA in Public Administration (to fulfill a goal of government work and policy making).
